Hey bit of optimism, last Sunday was forecasted just as bad and had some golden conditions later in the arvo – bloody cold though!

Hey fellas, This is winter is right. I've been flying slope for over 10 years now and can tell you it's like catching mud crabs, no good if the month doesnt have the letter "R" in it. True story ask any old crabber!
Bit of free useless info but I reckon it's close to the mark. Bring on September!!

Test flight today of a model that has sat for too long in the shed unattended and damaged. Graupner Chilli - lightened by replacing the 10 cell nicad pack, heavy brushed motor and plastic fuz. In went a hyperion outrunner, 2s 3300 lipo and a mold of the original fuz yielded a nice new fibreglass job. Saved about 600gms guarenteed to help with the tip stall characteristics. Had some trouble getting the lipo warm enough to deliver full power without the LVC hitting on the esc. Some flying around at half power and then switching to full when in a dive got the motor humming. Well I've fallen in love with and old girlfriend - she use to be a bit of a witch with a bite in the tail - now after a visit to the ww clinic - shedding a pound or so she's a lovely gentle warm liner. Had a evening at the hockey field with the real girlfriend and kids flying and enjoying the last of todays sunshine. So now I have 2m of RG15 for those still afternoons on the slope. ;D Will be maidened on the slope soon. cheers jeff

Very nice Jeff. Like the big T tail and Rg15. Bet she'll go great on the slope. Eric Thanks Eric. You know it's funny with models - this one has been neglected for over 10 years - crashed it a few times due to a nasty tip stall. Always had it in the back of my mind when flying it - will it bite me today? Reconfigured and much lighter it's a different model - I am just stoked. You know ya got it bad when your at work and all you can think about is getting home to take the model out for a fly ;D Sun was setting but still managed to get a few flights in on the Hockey oval - the goal posts prove to be a real obstacle in the low light. The magic of the hobby - probably get over it one day cheers jeff ps Skyking lost model alarms arrived last week - will pm details when I get organised.

I'm thinking of heading out to Sid's farm at Dayboro later and doing some repair work where a landslip has put some cracks in the track to the ridgetop. Just need to pile lots of the (ample) rocks into the holes so we can drive over them. Might get some light air SW flying as well. IF anyone is keen to come along, let me know. I'll be more likely to go if there's someone to meet.

Change of plan. Jirvin's planning winch launch practice at Bracken Ridge mid arvo, so Sid's track can wait till another day.

it was a shame no one else was there. seeing the queen bee in flight still impresses me everytime.....amazed even more that she flew so well in the light conditions with bugger all adjustments needed -top job mike also got to fly the new ehawk in good conditions and she's definately a winner. floats on nothing, fairly quick and does some great lazy aeros.only damage was landing a bit rough putting a break in the wingtip and some cactus holes in the wing covering (at least i managed to keep out of the queen bee's way or it could have been alot worse).
