Do people think it would be best to have one round a month over a longer period (for the summer flying season). Or a shorter series e.g. two rounds a month for 3 months? To add to the first option, having a larger gap between rounds will allow for back-up dates incase of poor weather. Also time for normal weekend flying. I reckon one a month would be cool. We've got to allow time for all the other contestants to rebuild their planes. (I thought I'd get in first with the trash talk). I'm going to start working on my sledging... "It's kinda flat, has red and yellow stripes, weighs about half a kg and is stuck between your ailerons, in case you were wondering" "Can't build...can't fly..." "How's your wife and my kids?" "Better ease off a bit, this one's still on the tit" "There's 2 pieces of s*&t together" "Bad luck, sir - you were just getting settled in" "He’s boring isn’t he? We call him Mary Poppins" "Four more years, boys" "If they can make penicillin out of moldy bread, they can sure make something out of you" More when I think of them

I've outlined some details for the series on the Windsock site: www.windsock.net.au/combat.htmIt's a start at the moment, if any one has anything to add or suggest please let me know. It might come across a bit heavy with the 'participation is at your own risk - waiver of liability form.' But since it's being promoted on my site I don't want to be sued if something ever goes wrong. I'm sure you can understand Let me know what you guys think.

We have two main sponsors for the Combat Slope Series, Glenn (Zipper) has agreed to donate a Scorpion kit and Jase is putting together a Bright Eyes pack. Check it out at: www.windsock.net.au/combat.htmFirst round on the: 21st October

Ok, you can count me in. I am also going to throw in a Geobytes tee shirt in to the prize pool - as the "runner's up prize" - no point adding it to the first price pool as I have already got one. (hehe)
Also, I don't think that anyone has mentioned "how long each round should go for" - I envision that it will get a bit boring for the "scorer" and it would probably be easier to get volunteers if the rounds were shorter - although more fun for the participants if they are longer of course.
... and just to make it really interesting - how about if we made one round at night - with light sticks on the planes, it would make for some good photos, and some spectacular crashes.

Gee, that puts some pressure on. I've generally been avoiding you combat nutters but might have to start putting in some practice ...

Gerard, I would love to participate but the only suitable plane I have is my Weasel, seeing as it's not a 48" swept wing could i still compete with it? It won't be much of a threat to the bigger heavier planes but would still be fun.

Could there be divisions? For those with weasels (Gerard, Sean, myself, possibly others) who are willing to combat them, there could be a weasel division, and there could be a Bee/warrior/duck divison.
But that may require two prize pools or something...

I think the wings and the weasel will have pros & cons when compared to each other but should even out. I think it will be better and easier to run one class only, prizes are an issue. Another plane to consider adding is the Bat. What do people think about the Bat? Would you consider the Bat too fast and heavy???

Sounds good . I like the idea of one class too, the more planes in the air the more fun I reckon, whatever is the consensus. My combatting experience with the Weasel amounts to one afternoon with a couple of guys flying Ducks, and the Ducks definitely had the upper hand, the only advantage the Weasel has is it's high roll rate. Personally I'd be happy for Bats or (similar) to compete but my Bat would be hopeless for the job, one knock and it'd be into the nearest shrubbery.

We tried to have a WW2 war bird combat down here, with all planes being made out of light EPS with minimal tape and spars. The idea was to smash your opponent, with EPS foam debris in the bin at the end of the day. The only problem was the wind gods didn’t want to play.

Yes, I don't think that bats would pose any threat what so ever. They are good for for avoiding hits but that won't earn them any points and they don't recover well from a collision. One thing that they could be used for is as a bounty target - a kill on a bat could be worth 5 points - but the bat pilot would not be earning many points - as it would be very unlikely for them to make a kill. The problem with the "bounty target" idea is that there is probably no incentive for the bat pilot in the form of points - all be it - it would be a lot of fun. In any case I would be flying my bee, but if anyone wants to fly a bat then they are welcome as far as I am concern. Also, with regards to scoring... how would people feel about only counting kills - not contacts. Kills are clear cut, while contacts are debatable - "Did you hear that? - I am sure they hit." I just think that we could easily run it without a dedicated scorer and with less disputes - if we only counted kills.

I would like to keep to the three simple rules on the combat page: www.windsock.net.au/combat.htmWith a hit, points are given to each pilot. This is how a lot of combat series deal with hits, no issue of who hit who. While of course a kill earns more points. I think with the points system a combo of 1 & 3 points will mix things up a bit (1 for a hit while 3 are for a kill). I think Adrian we could see how it goes. Now that the guidelines are published on the site I don't want to change things too much unless there is a big call for it.

how about if a hit by person A is very obvious to person B.
for eg. player A dive bombs player B, sending him spinning, player A and B regain control.... but player B didn't see this coming or take agressive action to attack or show intent to attack. should player B get 0 points while player A gets 1. or player A get 2 points and player B get 1.....
