now winter's here and the winds have been less than good (although had some epic flying at cabarita over the long weekend ) and sparked on by some fun flying with fling i have decided to get into a bit of electric park flying.started with another zero kit and building something a little different: www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=876982although not a sloper may interest some. i love the slope flying but the convenience of a 2minute drive to a field vs 1hr to the slope really is winning me over lately lol.

I'm still interested in electrics, but the convenience of having the glider and Tx always ready to use, look at the hourly wind report, say, "Let's Go"... that's winning out for me lately, compared to the planning of making sure the flight battery packs have been topped up, all the props and rubber bands and tools etc are organised. About the same 12min or so either way to drive. A 30's racer? Sounds exciting. That's a good look you're getting on it. Schneider Cup is classic racing at its best. Wanna add some floats? ;D not sure what all this crap is but apparently i need it? ;D

hey pij not sure about floats bud.....too cold too swim ;D, may just stick to the land based stuff. as for the other stuff i hate electrics so am on a steep learning curve here i reckon lol. for me electrics will be more convenient, working a full time job, starting an after hours biz and trying to keep the better half on side leaves time a little strapped ....i am going to put charging posts inside my glove box so charging the lipos on the run after work for a quick arvo flight at any field is a handy option.

Fire-proof glovebox, I hope?

Sounds like the opposite to me! I started slope soaring because it would more often than not be too windy to fly my electrics and I had a decent slope nearby.
I use a fireproof bag for charging lipos in the car. I personally haven't had anything go wrong but a friend of mine has had a couple of lipos balloon up on him. I'm always ultra-careful with those things. There are heaps of videos on youtube showing how dangerous they can be.
Looks like a sweet plane! I hope the grass at your field is short because those wheels are pretty small. If you are going to add spats you might want to think about making them removable. They are notorious for snagging in the grass too.

pij yes she'll be fire proof (although the car's worth more burnt ).got a small burst proof ammo case that i'll place the battery in or may use a fire blanket and just wrap them up....also have a fire extinguisher in the car for any "moments". hamburglar it's a cricket ground so has a model sized airstrip and the rest of the grass is very short.the spats will be one piece so may just have to put up with the noseovers.

well maklng good progress with the parkflyer for now www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=878898 .....really enjoy building these scale type planes, think i'll do more of it while the winds suck. so anyone have any pics of thier electric parkflyers? maybe a good excuse to organise some flying between a few people away from the slope?

Your pink plane's looking nice, Felix. Here's one of mine, Depron, adapted from plans on the 'net. Garden Cub. And here's my son with his Electrafun, and my Minimag, and just visible is my Sapac Phoenix.

Very nice! I got 2 matching brushless motors lying around somewhere. This is giving me some inspiration. Maybe a Mosquito? Will have a look around and see what I can find! so anyone have any pics of thier electric parkflyers? maybe a good excuse to organise some flying between a few people away from the slope? Foamworks Frakar Hyperion Sniper with Thrust 20 PA Addiction And please pretend you didn't see the pink childrens duvet cover! I bought it so that no one would want to steal it from the shared laundry in our barracks. It has worked well so far!

Andrew I think we may have to add an "Electric Planes" heading to the forum, it seems we've got some closet powered flight boys here.
All good fun though!!!!

Now I'm sooo humiliated; my shameful secret has been revealed. I thought I had kicked the habit, but something in the winter air made me do it. Honestly! And look on the bright side - our addiction could be worse! It could be slimeys! Just don't tell my wife and kids, ok? Mmmm, I think they already know.

Oh, Lavender! Well, good to see you've chosen a great BLOKEY colour. You should take up a macho powersport to go with the image, how about ocean powerboat racing, along with that hairdresser guy who ran out of his original Maryborough salon many years ago so he didn't have to pay his advertising bills. Just mentioned him, because he also knows a good BLOKEY colour scheme when he sees one.
It was sort of guilt, as well as the winter air, that got me back elektrikking on the weekend. I wasn't equipped to train my kids on the Duck, but they have been wanting to go flying. I've been going more than ever before, the past couple of months, but the kids were missing out. So we put in a good session of electric training, to make up.
I'm waiting on another Tx, so then I'll be able to buddy-cord properly on the Duck. That should make a difference.
