Sorry for the late reply, thanks guys for getting me up to the Hump finally.
All very friendly and most interesting. I had a few flights with the Caracho3000 but was really too chicken to try a lap on the back side with it. After I get it sorted and get more confident with the setup I might. In the mean time I'll get the Cracksleeper 3.1 (repaired Caracho 3.1) finished for DS destruction.
I did have a ball watching the DS Laps and seeing 8 wings in one cubic meter of sky.
Great videos, reports and flying, I'm keen to get back. Brian
Edit: I forgot about the forum's filter, Cracksleeper ;D = Crack.w.h.o.r.e

well, after flying at sinclairs lane today, me and pete (yes PETE) were doing some mild ds.... really just playing around under the sheer, anyway, it was great lift there, then all of the sudden, i was hugging the tree line, when i got in sink, and that was the last time i ever saw/will see my trusty skua... so that now officially makes it 3 skuas and 1 duck in the depths of the devils den... all up around $1200 worth of planes.... im not too dissapointed in losing it, moreso the fact that i dont have an agile sloper anymore... anyway... nuts happens! ps: im feeling a little 'superior'

Bummer Jarred, that place seems a little jinxed! I'm surprised you got such sudden sink today. Are you gonna go back and look for it?

uhhh, not too soon, mabye in a while...
and sean, after investigating, i told pete to try a thinned mh32 aerofoil for the epp, and i was thinking it would be perfect for a thin carbon rod as the spar, much like the stunt kites from crazys come with... then a brass joiner... early days yet tho

Desperate to find sites that work in northerlies, Nick and I met up to check out a spot on a back road between Upper Caboolture and Mt Mee. It's a really steep little bowl facing NE but the wind was too N today. Still had some fun with Nick's new Weasel (they're amazing).
We then checked out a couple more potential sites along the back road to Mt Mee, but nothing was any good. So we went on a bit of an exploring trip.
There's a great ridge I'd seen before, but it had a house built right on the ridge, and has "Private Property - No Entry by Order!"signs, and closed gates. We pulled over where there was a view thru the trees to the ridge several hundred metres away, and I pointed it out to Nick, then noticed someone working around the house. We plucked up the courage and nervously drove in. Nobody shot at us, so that was step one covered. Next step was to say Hi to the lady, and she didn't tell us to get lost either, so we explained to her that we were crazy glider guys desperate for a slope fix. She was cautious but didn't knock us back (step 3 OK) and asked what we actually wanted to do. So I pulled out the Ozprey and gave her a demo!
She was very interested and told Nick he'd better get his plane too! It was amazing. The house is literally on the edge of the ridge and we were flying off the rockwall of their garden, with the most amazing view. The husband came up too, and he was OK with it.
The other thing I should mention is that we used influence and power to our advantage. Once Nick mentioned that he was a strawberry farmer they seemed to become very positive, hinting that he might bring up some strawberries if he comes back!
So we were there for a couple of hours. It was a beautiful spot - the husband is obsessive about the gardening and the whole place looks like a botanical park or something, complete with rock surrounds, manicured grass, and so on. We even gave them a DS demo. Unfortunately they've built their house right on the prime DS spot! But we spent ages light -air DSing a little knoll, mainly with the Weasel. The lift wasn't strong, but it was great, considering that everywhere else was too light to fly. I put the Miraj together and Nick coached me to do some beautiful landings on a big strip of smooth mown lawn over the backside!
However they are very private people and made a point of saying they don't want us to bring anyone else! Bummer! But don't worry, if we go there on a good northerly wind day we'll really rub it in by telling you how good it was!

Yep Andrew is right what an awsome place, thier house is a mansion on the edge of a cliff and you could put thier garden in one of those gardening mags and it would not look out of place, the most amazing thing to me was how friendly they were, she even told me to come back with my gold detector next time as they have gold workings on thier property. i wish every land holder was like them, we would all never run out of sites to fly. thanks for another great day Andrew regards nick

Hey Nick, it's been said that I have the gift of the gab in sweet-talking my way onto properties ... but today it was you! You really got on side with those folks. Well done! It was fun. We scored.
